Due to personal weakness and immaturity, the degrading social climate in which many people live, misunderstandings about the purpose and value of marriage, the absence of strong spiritual communities, and a lack of skills and living examples, many marriages flounder. This is true inside devotee circles as well as outside them.
YugalMilan provides counselling sessions — under the guidance and supervision of senior ISKCON devotees — to help couples form realistic expectations and understand how to make a marriage work Krishna consciously. Sessions are confidential and available to individuals as well as to couples.

Why devotee marriages flounder — and what helps
The common causes are predictable: unspoken expectations, financial stress, in-law dynamics, unequal sādhana, poor conflict habits, and the isolation of a couple with no community around them. None of these are exotic problems; all of them respond to attention, honesty and skill.
Counselling gives a couple a neutral space, a structure for difficult conversations, and a devotee who has seen many marriages and is not shocked by yours. Most couples do not need dramatic intervention — they need a few habits corrected and a few misunderstandings named out loud.
How the sessions work
Sessions begin with listening: each partner describes the situation from their own side without interruption. The counsellor then helps identify the actual pattern underneath the presenting complaint, and proposes concrete, small changes rather than sweeping resolutions. Follow-up sessions review what worked.
Individuals may also come alone — whether a partner is unwilling, or whether the question is personal, such as recovering enthusiasm for sādhana, handling anger, or deciding whether to marry at all.
Making marriage work Krishna consciously
A Krishna conscious marriage does not mean a marriage without difficulty. It means both partners see the household as a place of service, treat each other as devotees of Krishna first, and keep chanting and association strong even when the relationship is strained. Where those three things are protected, most other issues become solvable.
Counselling helps a couple protect them — by scheduling sādhana realistically, by involving the temple community again, and by giving both partners language for what they need from each other.
